Overview:

Amos Lau is a Singaporean marketing professional, writer, actor and entrepreneur who embraces a multihyphenate career rather than following a conventional professional path. Combining his analytical background in engineering with interests in psychology, communication and storytelling, he has developed a career spanning international marketing, creative content and performance. Amos believes that career success should not be defined by a single profession, but by adaptability, continuous learning and the freedom to explore different interests.

Industry:

Marketing & Advertising | Creative Media | Acting & Entertainment | Content Creation | Writing | Entrepreneurship

Professional Experience:

Amos began his academic journey in electrical engineering, specialising in power engineering. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he researched floating photovoltaics before discovering a stronger interest in human behaviour, communication and business. He subsequently founded Amoz Creative, a boutique creative agency, and pursued opportunities in international marketing. His professional experience includes developing digital strategies, creating brand content and communicating with different audiences. Alongside his marketing career, he has explored acting, writing and content creation, building a diverse portfolio of creative and commercial skills.

Turning Point:

A defining turning point came when Amos realised that his interests extended beyond engineering and technical problem-solving. His exposure to research during the pandemic prompted him to reconsider his career direction and explore the intersection of business, creativity and human behaviour. Rather than searching for one lifelong calling, he embraced the possibility of developing several complementary careers. This shift allowed him to pursue acting and writing while maintaining financial stability through marketing, demonstrating that professional fulfilment does not necessarily require following a linear career path.

What He Does Now:

Today, Amos balances his marketing career with acting, writing and entrepreneurial projects through Amoz Creative. Although acting remains his preferred creative pursuit, he recognises the importance of financial independence and sustainable career development. He also shares perspectives on personal growth, professional identity and the challenges facing younger workers.

Amos encourages young professionals to develop self-discipline, build supportive networks, remain intellectually curious and explore interests beyond their formal education. His broader vision is for Singapore to become more accepting of unconventional careers while fostering stronger collaboration between creative, technical and business communities.
