Professional Experience:
Before entering the beauty industry, Emelin had a background in interior and fashion design, which taught her principles such as balance, proportion and harmony that she later applied to makeup artistry. When starting her business, one of her greatest challenges was earning clients’ trust and building a portfolio. She collaborated with photographers, bridal gown providers and other industry partners while continually upgrading her skills. Since 2011, Elite Makeup Artists Inc has developed services spanning bridal and pre-wedding makeup, corporate styling, fashion productions, editorial work and VIP engagements.
Turning Point:
Emelin’s transition from interior and fashion design into makeup came as she discovered that beauty offered another way to express the creative principles she had developed as a designer. Building the business required her to move beyond being a talented artist and learn how to market herself, establish industry collaborations and earn referrals through consistent work. Over time, she also came to see beauty differently: rather than focusing primarily on appearance, she began defining it through confidence, kindness, character and authenticity.
What She Does Now:
Today, Emelin leads Elite Makeup Artists Inc while continuing to work as a professional makeup and hairstyling artist. The company serves weddings, corporate events, fashion and editorial productions, red-carpet occasions and VIP engagements. She also teaches and mentors aspiring artists, emphasising that a sustainable career requires not only technical talent but professionalism, consistency, continuous learning and a business mindset. Through her work, Emelin hopes to help clients feel confident in their own skin while contributing to greater international recognition for Singapore’s beauty professionals.
