Overview:
Renee is the Brand Director of M&G Aesthetics, a Singapore wellness and aesthetics business founded by her mother, Ginny Li. Renee’s focus on postpartum recovery grew from her own experience of motherhood, including dealing with physical changes such as a weakened pelvic floor and abdominal muscle separation. Recognising that many women experienced similar challenges without knowing where to seek support, she helped expand M&G Aesthetics beyond traditional beauty services towards personalised pre- and postpartum recovery.
Industry:
Postpartum Recovery | Women’s Wellness | Beauty & Aesthetics | Non-Invasive Body Treatments
Professional Experience:
Working alongside her mother, who brings more than 40 years of experience in aesthetics and body assessment, Renee helped develop M&G Aesthetics’ personalised approach to pre- and postpartum care. Together, they created the oMAkase programme, which tailors treatments to each woman’s individual condition and needs. Renee has also helped integrate hands-on treatments with non-invasive technologies including radiofrequency, ultrasound and functional magnetic stimulation. Under her leadership, the business recorded revenue growth of more than 150%, which she sees as evidence of the unmet demand for greater postpartum support.
Turning Point:
Motherhood became the defining turning point for Renee. After giving birth to her first child in 2017, she realised that while considerable attention was given to preparing mothers for their babies, far less was said about the mother’s own physical recovery. Conversations with other mothers and M&G Aesthetics clients showed her that problems such as pelvic floor weakness and abdominal muscle separation were often accepted as unavoidable consequences of childbirth. This experience convinced her that postpartum recovery deserved greater attention and helped shape the new direction of the family business.
What She Does Now:
Today, Renee continues to develop M&G Aesthetics’ personalised approach to women’s wellness and postpartum recovery. She advocates combining technology with hands-on techniques rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all treatment model. Beyond aesthetics, she wants women to recognise postpartum recovery as part of their longer-term health and wellbeing rather than a luxury pursued only when problems arise. Her wider vision is for greater support and understanding of the physical, emotional and psychological changes women experience during the transition into motherhood.
