Before entering the sustainability sector, he enjoyed a successful career as an award-winning commercial photographer, filmmaker, creative entrepreneur, and branding expert. Today, he is on a mission to rebuild the world’s soil infrastructure by transforming organic waste into bio-organic fertilisers that regenerate ecosystems and create a more resilient future.

Professional Experience:
Matthew spent more than two decades in the creative industry, working as an award-winning photographer, film director, branding consultant, and entrepreneur. He co-founded several successful creative ventures, including SMG with Singapore singer JJ Lin, and helped build iconic lifestyle businesses such as Gem Bar. In 2018, after participating in agricultural poverty alleviation initiatives in China, he shifted his focus towards regenerative agriculture. He subsequently co-founded Bio Ark Global, where he combines entrepreneurship, innovation, and environmental stewardship to develop scalable solutions that restore degraded soil, improve crop productivity, and strengthen global food systems.
Turning Point:
A defining turning point came during a humanitarian and agricultural project in rural China, where Matthew witnessed firsthand the importance of healthy soil, sustainable farming, and food security. The experience fundamentally changed his perspective, inspiring him to leave the creative industry and dedicate his career to solving one of humanity’s greatest challenges. He realised that restoring soil health was not simply an agricultural issue but a global priority affecting climate resilience, human health, and future generations.
What He Does Now:
Today, Matthew leads Bio Ark Global’s vision of rebuilding soil infrastructure through regenerative agriculture. He oversees the company’s expansion across Southeast Asia, working with governments, farmers, and industry partners to transform organic waste into next-generation bio-organic fertilisers that improve soil fertility while reducing carbon emissions. His long-term mission is to create scalable, decentralised systems that restore ecosystems, strengthen food security, and build a healthier, more sustainable future for communities worldwide.
